Between 1982 and 1997, Elayne organized and presented, under the auspices of the ROSA PONSELLE FOUNDATION, THE ROSA PONSELLE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION for the VOCAL ARTS [ages 18 to 21] at Lincoln Center Plaza’s Alice Tully Hall ; THE ROSA PONSELLE, YOUNG MARYLANDERS' and the ROSA PONSELLE YOUNG NEW YORKERS' COMPETITIONS [ages 8 to 18] at Baltimore’s Goucher College and New York City’s Carnegie Hall. Many young, promising and gifted vocal artists were awarded Study Grants and Scholarships, and most are currently enjoying major operatic, international performance careers. Among the most celebrated are Russia’s OLGA BORODINA and America’s DEBORA VOIGHT.
Elayne currently serves on major international operatic juries which have included the TCHIACOVSKY COMPETITION in Moscow, the BORIS CHRISTOFF COMPETITION in Sofia Bulgaria, the VERDI COMPETITION in Busseto, Italy, the JAPAN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION in Tokyo, Japan, and the ENRICO CARUSO COMPETITION in Milan, Italy. She has been awarded Gold Medals from Russia’s Minister of Culture ; the Enrico Caruso Society of Italy; and the Shang Hai Conservatory of Music in China for her outstanding work in creating Intercultural exchanges between the United States and these countries.
She has been invited as a guest lecturer, presenting films, slides and recorded music and interviews from the Archives of the PONSELLE FOUNDATION at the ROYAL OPERA HOUSE at COVENT GARDEN in London; opera center programs at the San Francisco Opera House; The Dallas Opera House; the Chicago Opera House; The VERDI SOCIETY in Busseto Italy; and the ENRICO CARUSO SOCIETY in Milan, Italy. She has been a guest lecturer at many Opera Center Programs which include Yale University, The Juilliard School of Music, the Mannes College of Music, the Santa Fe Opera Company's Young Artist's Program, the University of Toronto and Goucher College's Young Vocal Artist's Program.
