Reynolds Duke’s work

Life studies

All of the paintings seen in this section are painted "In Studio" from live models. Photographs are not used during any stage of the painting. The artist works in the Premier Coup method which lends itself to her Impressionistic Style. Live model paintings usually require three to four sittings at three hours each.

Plein Aire

The artist works only from her French Easel as seen on the Home Page. The scenes are carefully chosen for composition, and various venues of light, ie. early morning, afternoon, dusk as well as during rainy weather. Photographs are never used to capture a scene during a particular time of day. At times, the artist will paint into the Plein Aire Scene the light changes throughout an entire day's work, painting in the various light and color exposures of the dawn, afternoon and dusk as it is cast on the scene. Some works are completed within a few hours, while others will span an entire day or two to three days before completion.

Still life

These are "In Studio" works entirely. Some subjects are entirely fresh fruits, and vegetables and whatever other props are added to the composition. At times, the artist's violins may be used.

The artist shall be adding floral arrangements, and other items of character to the site. Because fresh fruits and vegetables must be painted quickly to portray their color and freshness , these subjects are also painted in the Premier Coup method and usually completed within two to three hours. At times, such as in the Triptych, all three panels were painted simultaneously on three, side by side easels.
